As future leaders, we get to experience many aspects of Piers Park Sailing Center. We get to sail on different types of boats like Sonars, 420s, and Mercury sailboats. And, we spend time with all the different programs working with Piers Park, like Science of Sailing and Harbor Explorers. Being a future leader helps prepare us to become instructors at Piers Park Sailing Center.

Piers Park programs aim to teach students how to sail and uses beads to teach the basic levels of sailing. Students also learn about marine science and keeping the ocean safe. As future leaders, we learn how to race and what we need to know to become instructors. Programs at Piers Park help you become the best you can be, all while keeping things fun.

Students at Piers Park gain confidence and leadership through our youth programs. Science of Sailing kids get new opportunities to learn about sailing and marine science throughout the year. They use their sailing skills to teach each other new things and continue to expand their sailing knowledge. The students are eager to learn and level up within the sailing program.

My favorite part of the program is the Future Leader program, because we get to do so many different things. We get to sail in different places in many different types of boats. Like in the photo, we got to go on a boat in the cove called the Captiva. This was a different type of boat none of us had ever been on before. We got to help sail that boat as part of learning as much about sailing as we can. It’s also fun to go on Island Trips with Science of Sailing and interact with all the different programs at Piers Park.
