I am enjoying the view of the Islands that I can see from Long Island in this picture. This was my first year as an instructor. This year, I was mainly with Camp Harbor View teaching students how to sail. My experience as an instructor was amazing. I loved every moment of it. I loved teaching the students sailing and I definitely loved seeing the students easily doing what I would teach them.

I try my best to teach any students I have the values that I find important. I teach them to be kind and to do their best. Even if they don’t get the concept the first time I teach it, I’m happy to see them at least try it and do their best. I also like seeing the students that I’ve taught being kind to one another. Another value I’ve taught my students is gratitude. I think that everyone should be grateful to have an opportunity like this.

A positive impact I’ve seen in the students I’ve taught is everyone in the boat becoming friends. I’ve also seen students teach each other, especially if someone hasn’t got down the concept. Sometimes I will also have some very quiet students on the boat and my students have always tried to get the quiet students to talk more or even engaged in any conversation they have.

We have many amazing programs and some of my favorites are Signs of Sailing and our new program with Camp Harbor View. I’ve been with the Camp Harbor View program more than our Signs of Sailing program. They are both really amazing programs. In both I’ve watched kids grow and become better sailors and become better as people.

My goals with school is to keep up my good grades and get into my dream college. I am currently pursuing Computer Science. My dream college is Stanford University. My goal as a student in the program was to become an instructor. Now my new goal is to continue teaching students and watching students grow up in the program and take over as new instructors.
